Things to Know Before Nominating

  • To make a nomination, please scroll down to “Forms for Tech Nite 21 Award Nominations.”
  • Tech Nite 21 nominations will be accepted from April 1 – May 3, 2021.
  • Please review some guiding thoughts and the guidelines (eligibility, coordination with the nominee, frequency of nomination): SVTC TN21 guiding thoughts and nomination guidelines.
  • To see a list of who was nominated or won in years past, see our Past Award Nominees & Winners page or view a pdf of nominees & winners 2001 to 2020.
  • How were narratives worded in the past? Read what people wrote in 2020 (SVTC TN20 nomination narratives, pdf) when they made nominations.
  • We ask that nominators work closely with nominees to make sure that the nominee is not only aware and approves of the nomination, but also, therefore, is given the opportunity to contribute to it. This careful involvement and coordination prevents surprises and also prevents multiple nominations from the same organization.
  • Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges who are experienced in the development and commercialization of technology products and services, representing the educational, scientific, and commercial technology communities. Membership in the SVTC NOT required for nominee or nominator.
  • All nominees in the Leadership category will be publicized.
  • Nominees receive one complimentary ticket for attendance.

People’s Choice award (PCA) — Anyone can vote!
All nominees in the other 7 categories will be candidates — and the company, organization, or individual with the most votes through social media before and during the event will win. Voting starts the day all nominees are publicized and continues during the gala.  A special hashtag will be used for social media. Those who’d like vote (anyone can vote except automated systems, bots) set their social media profiles (FB and Twitter) to public, then use the special hashtag *and* the nominee’s name.  We’ll collect the posts and do the tabulating. Attendees of the gala will be able to see the posts during the event. Please note that the PCA winner can also be the winner in a different category. Special hashtag will be announced.
