So thankful for your sponsorship of our FIRST LEGO League rookie team. We are still in shock that our team took 1st place in regionals at JMU in November 2017. They have worked hard, but more importantly learned a ton along the way. We have many people asking us about next year and wanting to start a team. Our hope is to keep the enthusiasm going and help start some more teams for next year! Thank you, SVTC!
“When I had the need for web development in a pinch, I looked to the SVTC membership page to try to find companies who listed skill sets I was looking for, and I found Chiedo Labs. I wanted to stay local and find a partnership I could rely on. Once I had the conversation with Chiedo Labs on our needs and what they had to offer, it matched what we were looking for.” And Chiedo’s side of the story: “With this partnership alone, our membership has paid for itself for the next 50 years. And that doesn’t even take in to account all the other benefits for being a member. Joining SVTC is a no brainer for anyone who loves and supports our local tech scene.”
As a technology user and training coordinator, I find the SVTC luncheons a great source of information and networking. I have developed contracts with businesses and trainers as a result of conversations at the meetings. SVTC helps me to serve the needs of my customers and clients.
ComSonics relies on local educational facilities to provide us with employees. We certainly hire a good number of them and they are quite specialized in the sort of training we require. I think our connection with the Tech Council has helped establish connections with these educational facilities, such as Blue Ridge Community College and Massanutten Technical Center. Through my connection with Nick Swayne, a fellow member, I’ve been able to connect with the engineering students and curriculum at JMU. I was able to participate as a judge in several events, connect with other judges, review many of the engineering projects students put on, and get an insight into what students are learning and focusing on.
Doing business in the Valley is very important to grep Innovation. We often do businesses outside of this region, there’s a lot of work we do in other states and spread across the country. Because we prefer to give our business to locals — and source our talent locally, if we can —we find our active participation with the tech council to be very helpful in finding vendors, talent, skills, and services that are available here, so we don’t have to go outside of the Valley to find these resources.
SVTC membership has been an invaluable asset to Cadence over the years. As a growing company in this area, our ability to leverage the many available networking activities continues to be an integral part of our on-going success. Cadence has also benefited from recognition by the SVTC as the High Tech Company at the annual Tech Nite awards event. Networking is a significant part of the Tech Council. Through the SVTC, we met Sonaray, who also happened to be within the same industrial park as our company. Now we have lights in our facility that are brighter and more cost efficient because of our relationship with them. It just goes to show you that the connections you make through the Tech Council can lead to real business.
While absolutely any company has its ups and downs, the last year was especially tumultuous for us. Thankfully, with these advisors onboard we were able to patch it up and carry on!
